4-H Project Areas are hobbies that families choose to make educational through participating in contests, clubs, and activities. Members often lead activities related to the project for their local club. Some members even serve others through their project work. Below are Project Areas that Anderson County 4-H currently offers. These project groups will start in August 2025.
Heritage Arts
Anderson County is in the heart of Appalachia. Therefore, Anderson County 4-H is dedicated to providing heritage arts to 4th-12th graders. This project group will meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 4:00-5:30 pm. This project group will get to take home what they make after each class!

Livestock
There are many opportunities for 4-H’ers to get involved with livestock. These project groups are held on the 1st Thursday of the month.
- Swine

STEM
STEM stands for Science, Engineering, Technology, and Math. With new technology being invented daily, it is important to get 4-H’ers involved in with STEM. This project group will meet on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. Some specific things we will do are listed below. 4th-8th grade will meet from 4:00-5:00 pm and 9th-12th grade will meet from 5:00-6:00 pm.
- Environmental Science (Extreme Weather, Fish Biology, Tree Biology)
- Healthy Living (Nutrition, Yoga, Human Biology)
- Robotics (Legos and Blocks)
- Geographic Information Science (Computerized Mapping, GIS)
- Introduction to Script Languages (R Studio)
Communication
4-H speech contests have been proven to help kids succeed in their future of public speaking. This project group will help kids overcome their nerves when public speaking. This group will be led by a senior-high 4-Her. It will be held on the 1st Monday of each month at 4:00 pm.
